Bird feeders

Messy Hands!

Our second week back at school, and the Ladybirds have been learning how to use a set of instructions. Later in the week, they wrote their own instructions based on what they remembered from having made a bird feeder on Tuesday. Now, they understand a set of instructions usually contains a list of what is needed, including equipment (and sometimes ingredients), what to do, using numbers or bullet points to break down the task into easier chunks. They also recognise the 'bossy verbs' that explain the process depending on what the instructions are for.

After making the bird feeders and giving them time to set inside the fridge, on Friday the children chose a suitable place to hang their bird feeder and help the birds to survive and keep warm during the colder weather. It is true to say that despite the unpleasant smell of the lard and seed, the children persevered and accepted their hands would become very messy from mixing these together. Well done to the Ladybirds for providing food for our feathered friends during the winter months.
