Summer Reading Challenge Recognised!

Summer Reading Challenge rewarded by Norfolk Library Service

It was great to see so many children had taken part in the Norfolk Library Service's Summer Reading Challenge during the holidays and it was fantastic to see the children get recognised for their efforts. Hopefully, even more can get involved next Summer.

I have been mightily impressed by the start our new Reception cohort have made to life at Ormesby Village Infant School. They sit impeccably in the assembly hall, they are so engaging and interactive with different adults in their lessons and they are all willing to share their comical characters with us each and every day. I have really loved seeing their mark making and single letter sound graphemes. I do not wish to tempt fate, but they are all settling in amazingly well.

Friday saw us commemorate the birthday of the late Roald Dahl, and it gave myself and other staff the chance to share extracts from a variety of his most popular novels. Fortunately, I managed to snag George's Marvellous Medicine and this gave me the opportunity to put on my best "Grandma" voice, which was so gruff and throaty it made some of the children jump. I hope they enjoyed it. I know I certainly did along with Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Brooks in the room with me.

Next week, we have our Open the Book team back for assemblies and I will be popping into classes to see how the teaching staff are getting on imparting that important knowledge to their pupils.

Have a great weekend everyone!
