Retirement Sorrow!

Our own 'Office Legend' hangs up the notepad and pen for the final time!

It has been a week tinged with sadness due to the fact that we have all had to say the fondest of farewells to Mrs. Spraggs, who has decided to retire after many years as a school secretary. She was one of the very first members of staff I employed not long after I came to the Federation, and she has played an integral role in the successful drive forwards at the Infant school. She and I helped one another get to know the Federation at the same time, so I know she will be missed by all, but especially by me. I have no doubt she will return in another voluntary capacity though. There is no need to worry, because the office will now be managed solely by Ms. Skoyles, so we are in good hands.

Both schools walked to the Church together on Thursday for our Harvest Festival celebrations and I was thrilled with the behaviour, not to mention the respectful manner children displayed on the journey and when inside the Church. Whilst there, the singing was also fantastic and our pupils were even bopping along to the Junior songs. Thank you to Rev. Jo, Mrs. White-Joubert and all parent helpers.

With parent-teacher meetings taking place over the week, I hope that everyone has been able to discuss their children with school staff and these parents have received constructive feedback about how to support their children moving forward. If there is anyone who has not had an appointment, please speak to staff about arranging one.

Friday saw our PTFA send the children off to their half-term with the opportunity to purchase a tasty doughnut. A lovely sugary treat to welcome in the holiday break.

As I told the children, please make sure you all have a safe holiday, especially if there are any Halloween bonfire/firework gatherings being attended.

When we return, we will have the flu vaccinations taking place on Monday 4th, as well as our Year 2 reading cafe on Wednesday 6th, not to mention our Remembrance commemorations on Friday 8th around the village memorial.

Have a great break and we shall all see you on Monday 4th November.
