Pudsey Returns!

Anti-Bullying Week ended with Children in Need!

Another busy week has flown by and I was mightily impressed by the children's and staff's efforts to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week and Children in Need by donning odd socks and by coming to school wearing a variety of Pudsey-esque costumes. For the latter, the school raised £100.10, so we thank you all for your generosity for such a worthy cause.

Due to illness absence, we have had to shuffle staff about this week, but I just wanted to take a moment to praise the wonderful team who work with your children every single day, because they always rally together when faced with a challenge, supporting each other and going above and beyond for every single child. I could not be prouder of such a fantastic team of people. Our families really are lucky at our Ormesby schools!

I thoroughly enjoyed covering Mrs. Vaughan yesterday afternoon hearing readers and then undertaking some pre-learning of the Great Fire of London with Dragonflies Year 2 children. We were learning how to ask and write probing questions; questions we could ask to find even more out about the Great Fire of London. Having taught this topic myself in the past, why is it children are obsessed with finding out how many people lost their lives? Sometimes, children are intrigued by the more gruesome topics. I was impressed by the amount of prior knowledge from many of the class and the enthusiasm to generate some fantastic questions.

Next week on Wednesday 20th, we have our reading cafe for Year 1 parents at 2:45pm.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
